Interns & Volunteers

At SPAK, we value and depend on the expertise of our international volunteers and interns. Together with our Nepali performing arts teachers and artists, our volunteers and interns are key in helping run a series of classes and workshops for designated social projects. For example, music classes at local schools, or body work with an NGO who works with former street children, or group music therapy for people with mental health problems in a day care.
There comes an invaluable mutual gain form this team work between volunteers and interns, and our Nepali teachers; they learn from observing one another, learning and developing different teaching approaches and styles. This cultural and educational exchange between teachers concludes into a shared learning experience, which is beneficial to all: teachers, students and the quality of our work at SPAK.

What SPAK offers:

  • A tailor made program that is adapted to your learning and/or teaching needs.
  • To gain insight in the running of an art school in a culture where values and outlook could be different to the ones your accustomed to.
  • To use your personal experience and knowledge to the benefit of the development of SPAK and most importantly, the people that we teach and work with.
  • To work in a diverse and international team where you work closely together with your passionate and creative colleagues.
  • To get to know the Nepali culture as a local.
  • Be part of a school that strives to bring performing arts into the Nepali society.
  • To improve your English language skills in your field of expertise.
  • A 'Welcome @ SPAK' bag that contains everything you need to survive the first few days in Nepal.
  • The use of a SPAK bicycle.

Who we are looking for:

People with a background in performing arts who posses a variety of talents; you have to be creative, openminded and flexible. You have to enjoy teaching in completely different circumstances that what you are used to. You have to love a challenge and to step out of your comfort zone. And you must be willing to dedicate yourself at least 6 weeks to this SPAK adventure.
Is this you?
Then you might be our next volunteer or intern!
